here to serve the community

Pip Thomson – a 15 year old – has committed himself to twenty- six hours community service in the village. He will divide his time between litter picking and delivering the Parish Magazine around Lavendon.

Pip has lived in the village for nearly seven years and is in Year 10 at Wellingborough School. He is doing the Duke of Edinburgh programme and is just finishing his Bronze Award and starting the Silver Award.

Asked why he wanted to litter pick, Pip said that he saw litter around the village and thought he could do something to improve the situation. He thinks that some people leave litter as it’s easier to dump it so it becomes someone else’s problem. Pip feels that we should look after the village and “leave it as you found it”.

Our organised Litter Picking sessions will start again in April to October 2021. If you want to join us please be at the Pavilion at 10.00am on the last Saturday of the month. All are welcome. If you cannot make this time and would like to litter pick, you can access the relevant equipment on long term loan from the Parish Council.
