Turvey Major Roadworks

PLANNED MAJOR ROAD WORKS FOR HIGH STREET AND BRIDGE STREET, TURVEY 

 

Major roadworks will be carried out on the above roads on Monday 18th September from 8:00am as part of Bedford Borough Council’s highway works programme. 

These works include: 

 

Installing a new road drainage system between the river bridge and Newton Road 

Resurfacing the A428 between the Authority boundary and Jack’s Lane 

In order to disrupt residents as little as possible this work is being carried out in two phases, 

as follows: 

 

Phase 1 – drainage works: 18th September to 20th October 

During this phase A428 Bridge Street will be closed 24 hours per day between Mill Lane and 

Newton Road in order to install a new drainage pipe in the road. During the hours of the road 

closure a diversion route will be in place via the A509 through Olney and via the A422 

Stagsden Bypass. Access to properties will be provided at all times, and access to both Mill 

Lane and the Three Fyshes public house car park will be provided at all times. 

 

Phase 2 – road resurfacing works: 9th October to 28th October 

A428 High Street will be closed between 9th October and 28th October, overnight only between 

8pm and 6am to allow us to resurface the road and carry out other road repairs. Note until 20th 

October the Bridge Street closure will also be in operation during the day. The diversion route 

via Olney and Stagsden will also apply during the hours of this road closure.
